Reasons to Use Solar Energy for Your Home
Solar powered homes are becoming more popular because people are becoming more aware of earth’s resources and the depletion of the environment. If all homes were converted to using only solar power, we would not need to use up the non renewable resources like oil, coal, and forestry that are slowly harming ecosystems and the atmosphere.
Many residences which can be considered eco friendly houses use energy from the sun by attracting the photovoltaic rays and converting their energy into electricity and heat. This is done with solar panels made of either thin film or silicone crystalline. The solar panels are placed on the roof of a home and are attached through wires to an inverter that literally converts the energy stored in the panels into electricity. You can also uses solar panels to heat water so you can have heated water for washing clothes, dishes, and even for showers.
Solar power for homes can either be on or off-grid. Residential solar energy is usually a term referencing homes that are on the grid but use solar power. This means that they still use the same amount of energy but they have a catered solar power kit that is sized to their specific needs. These can vary in price, and can become extremely expensive to purchase and install, depending on the size. They still use the grid to acquire their energy, but the energy comes from the sun rather than the power plant.
Off grid solar homes are completely independent from the other neighboring homes in how they acquire electricity and heat. These homes do not rely on the grid to power their homes, even if the power is from the sun. These homes use only the energy they attract from the sun each day; taking one day at a time and using as little energy as possible throughout the day in order to have electricity at night. These homes are often structured where using little energy throughout the day can be possible, with south-facing sliding glass doors, and insulated walls.
