Solar Walkway Lights
If you have paths or walks in your yard that are hard to see after dark, the simple solution is to add some light to those areas. If you want to not only illuminate but also accent those areas, solar walkway lights are an economical choice that will provide light and beauty. The reason solar lights are so economical is because the power to run the lights is provided by the sun, so you won’t be looking at increased costs for electricity. Now you will have to replace the batteries and the bulbs, but batteries generally last for two to three years and bulbs much longer than that.
When solar outdoor lighting first became popular, many homeowners were disappointed with them. The light was very dim and had a very yellow look to it. Today’s solar technology is much improved and the light produced is very bright and is much whiter looking. The better light output is due to not only the type of bulbs used, but also because the solar cells and batteries are much better than in the past.
If you haven’t used solar lighting for your outdoor areas before, and are not sure how it works, it’s a really simple system. Each fixture will include a solar cell, battery and bulb. The solar cell collects the sun’s energy, stores it in the battery and releases it at night through the bulb. While most solar powered fixtures have off and on switches, once you place them in your landscape and turn the switch on, they work much like photocell lighting and will automatically come on as daylight fades to darkness.
Installing solar walkway lights is simple. Measure the area and determine how many fixtures you want, most homeowners place them somewhere around 1 to 2 feet apart, then simply pound the stakes into the ground at the pre-determined distance.
Your solar walkway lights will require little to no care once installed. If the solar cells become dirty you can wipe or wash them down and other than that all is required of you is to enjoy the light your solar walkway lights provide.
